The Titanic & Tears

Yesterday I saw the Titanic for the first time ever. Let me just say that this movie emotionally changed my life. If you have not seen this: GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!! Please. For me. Go.

Anyways, I cried my eyes out, (which is typical me, as you will soon learn) but not for the reasons that most people do. I mean, yes, of course, I was sad that the beautiful and incredible Jack Dawson froze to death in the ocean, and that Rose however-you-spell-her-name had to live without her real true love. But for me, that was not the main tragedy of the story.

Personally, what gets me, is the fact that the aristocracy does not care about the lower class. They could care less if the men and boys die. 19 out of 20 boats sat and watched thousands of people freeze to death. What's even worse: the fact that although the line between aristocracy and lower class is not as clearly defined, and there are no official barriers between the two, there is still a distinct space between the rich and the poor. And I don't know if people in todays society would react any differently to the death of thousands than the aristocracy in the lifeboats did. And this, my friends, is the part of the movie that makes me truly sad.
